About our Founder, Course Administrator and Head Instructor
Henri Aymonier founded Shore Boating School in 1999 and has since certified over 22,000 boaters.
Henri is a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore area, and currently resides in Brick Township in Ocean County, NJ. Since he was a young child, Henri’s “playground” was the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers in Monmouth County, NJ. As an adult, this grew into a successful career with both operating and teaching about power boats. As an accomplished sailor, he’s competed nationally in one design sailboats. As a young man, he won the club championship one year at Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club. He also loves fishing- primarily tuna, marlin, and sharks.
Henri’s engaging teaching method includes anecdotal stories as well as many “tips & tricks” to bring the learning process to life, resulting in very high test scores and lots of happy new boaters.
He is nationally certified as an on-water boat handling instructor by NSBC (National Safe Boating Council) and was awarded certification as a classroom instructor by NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators). He currently works under the auspices of the NJSP Marine Services Bureau (New Jersey State Police, Marine Division.)
